Set at the edge of the plain of Catania, the estate is part of the municipality of Lentini, then already the province of Syracuse, and, with his farm, is one of the largest citrus orchards of eastern Sicily (approximately 200 hectares of lemon and orange).
The property also represents an area of great archaeological interest, there being a Neolithic necropolis. At Castle Xirumi you are accessed through a large iron gate, which leads to a street (about 1.2 km long) flanked by palm trees and Mediterranean plants.
The layout of the castle Xirumi is typical of a fortified farm. The castle consists of a central courtyard on which rotate different environments: a millstone, a mill and a grain warehouse that have been perfectly restored.
The main floor, temporary home of the Grimaldi family, is located on the western side, and with large windows overlooking the courtyard in front of the entrance. Its western façade, was restored by the architect Carlo Sada and progetattata to inizo of the twentieth century.
The antique furniture is enriched by beautiful trompe-l'oeil, and the floor, in the ancient Sicilian terracotta, has designs which vary from room to room. Large stone fireplaces warm the lounges.
